Rehabs that Accept UMR Insurance Coverage

Purpose Healing : Compassionate Care in Rehabs That Accept UMR Insurance Coverage

Getting Help Covered Using UMR Health Insurance at Purpose

United Medical Resources (UMR) serves over 6 million members. Owned by UnitedHealthcare, many people use UMR to cover the cost of addiction or mental health treatment services in addition to care for other health concerns. If you’re a UMR policyholder looking for rehabs that accept UMR insurance coverage, you’re in the right place.

Purpose Healing Center strives to make covering the cost of treatment easy. To ensure that the best quality of mental health and addiction treatment is accessible, we accept nearly all types of health insurance for rehab coverage and other payment methods.

This article will provide a comprehensive overview of everything you need to know as a UMR member looking for rehab services. Please call Purpose Healing Center for help with any questions you have regarding UMR coverage or getting treatment at one of our trusted treatment centers in Arizona.

Does UMR Cover Drug and Alcohol Rehab?

Yes. UMR health insurance plans cover drug and alcohol rehab services. The Affordable Care Act, or ACA, requires that insurance providers cover essential health benefits. Under the ACA, essential health benefits include:

  • Addiction and mental health services (including behavioral health services).
  • Ambulatory (outpatient) services.
  • Emergency room visits.
  • Pregnancy, maternity, and newborn care.
  • Preventative services and chronic disease management.
  • Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices.
  • Laboratory services (e.g., blood draw).
  • Prescription medications.
  • Pediatric services.
  • Hospitalization.

This does not mean that you can use UMR to cover care at any drug and alcohol rehab center. Not every treatment center accepts insurance, and many treatment centers are in-network with a limited number of insurance providers.

Benefits of Using UMR Insurance for Addiction Treatment

Purpose Healing Center is dedicated to serving our community. We provide complete transparency regarding any out-of-pocket costs for treatment, like co-pays. If you can’t pay for treatment, you will not be turned away from our facility. The Purpose Healing Center team is here to help you find solutions.

That said, using your insurance to pay for addiction treatment is ideal in most situations. Here are the benefits of using your UMR insurance to cover treatment.

A Significant Reduction in Treatment Costs

The first benefit of using any health insurance plan to pay for addiction treatment is that it will reduce the amount of money you have to pay out-of-pocket for your program(s). Without insurance, a substance abuse treatment program in Arizona, or elsewhere for that matter, can cost thousands of dollars per week.

Needless to say, private pay is not an option for most people. With addiction and mental health coverage, nearly all of your treatment costs should be covered when you work with an in-network provider like Purpose Healing Center.

Range of Treatment Programs Covered

Inpatient and outpatient rehab programs can both be used to treat addiction. UMR covers all levels of care used to treat addiction and mental health, including:

Purpose Healing Center offers all of the above, as well as aftercare and alumni support services. UMR coverage can be used to pay for all of our programs.

Freedom to Pursue Continuous Treatment

Freedom to Pursue Continuous Treatment

Most of the time, recovering from substance abuse is not as simple as participating in a 30-day rehab program. Usually, we recommend that clients start with a higher level of care, like residential addiction treatment, followed by outpatient treatment programs. This approach can ease the transition from inpatient care to everyday life.

Treatment costs can add up over time, but we know from experience that continued care matters. Using UMR coverage for care at our center means that your treatment can be seamless and that you will have the freedom to get ongoing support without finances holding you back.

Integrated Addiction and Mental Health Treatment

Mental disorders and emotional health concerns like depression, anxiety, and trauma are known risk factors for substance abuse. If someone has both a substance use disorder and one or more co-occurring mental health disorders, it is important to get treatment for both.

Also called dual-diagnosis treatment, integrated care for addiction and mental health is linked to better treatment outcomes. For example, enhanced treatment outcomes, improved quality of life, and reduced substance use behaviors in people facing a combination of substance addiction and co-occurring disorders.

UMR provides coverage for dual diagnosis treatment programs as well as standalone addiction treatment. Purpose Healing Center offers integrated addiction and mental health treatment support at all care levels.

What is Medically Necessary Treatment?

Evidence-Based Therapies - Medically Necessary Treatment

Medically necessary treatment refers to healthcare services that meet accepted medical standards to diagnose or treat an illness, injury, disease, condition, or symptom. When it comes to addiction treatment and mental health services, medically necessary treatment may include:

  • Evidence-based therapies.
  • Research-backed holistic and alternative therapies.
  • Medication for addiction and mental health conditions.
  • Visits with healthcare providers who can prescribe medications.
  • Inpatient or outpatient programs for drug and alcohol addiction.
  • Inpatient or outpatient mental health care.

By providing medically necessary treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues, we are able to be in-network with many plans from both UMR and United Healthcare.

Help Paying for Aftercare and Other Services

Before your release date from Purpose Healing Center, we’ll help you make an aftercare plan.

Your aftercare plan will help set you up for success after substance abuse treatment. In addition to covering relapse prevention skills, aftercare plans often involve referrals for ongoing talk therapy, including both in-person and online therapy providers, medication management, and other services covered by UMR.

Like with more intensive substance use disorder treatment, knowing how you’ll pay for these services matters. We can provide referrals to mental health providers who accept UMR during the aftercare planning process.

What Types of Therapy Will UMR Pay For?

UMR pays for evidence-based therapies used for addiction and mental health concerns. Examples of evidence-based therapies UMR can help pay for include but aren’t limited to:

  • Motivational therapies, like motivational interviewing (MI).
  • Behavioral therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
  • Trauma-focused therapies.
  • Suitable alternative therapies.

At Purpose Healing Center, we use a combination of the most effective treatments for the conditions and concerns we work with. Exposure to multiple types of therapy means that you will get the chance to develop a comprehensive set of coping strategies, increased self-awareness, communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving and life skills, and other benefits.

We target all aspects of addiction and work with clients from a whole-person perspective. To learn more about Purpose Healing Center, connect with our team today.

FAQs About Rehabs That Accept UMR Insurance Coverage

Is UMR insurance the same as UnitedHealthcare?

UMR is not the same as UnitedHealthcare. While UMR is owned by United, UMR is actually a third-party administrator or TPA. In insurance, a TPA is an organization that handles and helps policyholders handle the process of claiming benefits for healthcare services.

So, although UMR is not considered a health insurance company, it does act like one for members. You can use UMR benefits just like any other form of health insurance.

Does UMR insurance cover Suboxone?

UMR insurance coverage for Suboxone

Yes. UMR covers most prescriptions and can help you pay for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders. This includes types of MAT used for opioid use disorder (OUD), like Suboxone.

What happens at a UMR rehab facility?

If you’re staying at a residential rehab facility, you’ll live on-site for the duration of your program.

For about 30-90 days, you’ll participate in a full daily treatment schedule, which will usually include group therapy, individual therapy, medication management, family therapy, recreation, and other structured activities.

You can also choose to attend outpatient rehab. At an outpatient rehab facility, you’ll attend treatment during the day on a predetermined schedule but will sleep at home or in sober living.

Does UMR Insurance Cover Out of Network Providers?

Yes. UMR can help you cover out-of-network healthcare providers. This means that you can seek healthcare services outside of the UMR network and may get help paying for healthcare costs associated with out-of-network providers through UMR.

Your out-of-network benefits can help you access mental health care and drug or alcohol addiction treatment programs. Sometimes, your co-pay for out-of-network services might be higher than it is for in-network providers, though this is not necessarily always true.
