What is the American Indian Health Program?

American Indians and Alaska Natives have access to a very specific insurance program known as the American Indian Health Program. Using this insurance for rehab programs at Purpose can offset (or entirely cover) both alcohol abuse and drug abuse treatment when used at an approved facility at the recommendation of a medical professional.

It is issued through the Indian Health Services program as part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Facilities bearing the IHS stamp of approval are reimbursed by AIHP insurance for services rendered to anyone who qualifies for the program.

Who is Eligible for the American Indian Health Program or AIHP?

Knowing what you qualify for and coverage details allows you to gain access to services provided by treatment centers like Purpose Healing Center. Do you qualify for coverage under the American Indian Health Program (AIHP)?

This plan is a part of the public health services offered in the state of Arizona to Native Americans and Alaska Natives. If you are registered as part of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System and are an American Indian, then you should be covered by AIHP.

What is Covered by the American Indian Health Plan Types?

If you are searching for an AIHP alcohol detox, there is good news: your health insurance will often pay at least a portion of your treatment in an alcohol or drug rehab. There is a high rate of alcohol abuse in this population. Some studies estimate that as high as 84 percent of American Indians are current drinkers.

To gain coverage for an AIHP rehab, you need a medical professional to vouch for the services required to treat your mental health and substance use disorder. For the most part, the American Indian Health Program will cover a range of inpatient rehab and some outpatient services, and even vocational therapy in some cases.

This recommendation for treatment can assist you in learning the life skills required to live without drugs and alcohol.

You might take part in individual counseling, group therapy sessions, family counseling, and even other novel therapies such as music therapy or art therapy. Enrolled members who reside in our inpatient programs have access to all of these treatments and more.

Are All Services Covered by AIHP?

Keep in mind that not all treatment centers and programs will be covered by AIHP insurance. Be sure to inquire with Purpose Healing Center to see what your unique insurance plan will cover. They might cover cognitive therapy or psychosocial rehabilitation as part of inpatient treatment programs. Behavioral management and services are also typically covered by AIHP.

However, they do not always cover outpatient rehab, but in many cases our IOP and PHP are covered fully by AIHP benefits for addiction treatment. They also might not cover recreational therapy unless it is part of an inpatient program. Be sure to inquire about benefits with Purpose Healing Center before enrolling in a partial care program.

Seeking Help for Substance Abuse at Purpose Healing Center

Seeking Help for Substance Abuse

Many people want to use their American Indian Health Plan to cover their stay in an alcohol and drug rehab. Purpose Healing Center can provide the care and coverage you need in our AIHP rehab. We proudly accept this type of coverage, and there are no one-size-fits-all solutions for substance abuse at Purpose, as we create a custom treatment plan for each of our clients.

Here is what you should know about the services provided by our team of medical professionals.

Medical Detox from Drug and Alcohol Abuse

When you first enter into treatment, you might need an intensive level of care. If you have been using drugs and alcohol for some time, it can be dangerous to go cold turkey on substance use without the oversight of a medical professional. Serious side effects can surface such as seizures and psychosis.

Not to mention, it can be extremely uncomfortable to detox from substance abuse. We can use various medications that make you more comfortable. For example, we can treat your nausea or vomiting with prescription medication that allows you to get through the hardest parts of a detox more easily.

The Proven Choice for AIHP Rehab is Purpose

As you are discharged from medical detox, it is time to turn your attention back to your coping skills and get to the bottom of why you use substances. Our inpatient rehab is the next step along your journey to sobriety. While here, you will undergo mental health counseling with a licensed counselor, attend group therapy to learn from your peers, and participate in other supplementary therapies.

Most people stay in our rehab for thirty to ninety days to get the most benefit from their Indian Health Service insurance.

One thing to note is that you will receive the highest standard of care at our inpatient rehab. We are proud to be a Joint Commission-accredited facility. This means that an objective third party reviewed our facility and treatment center. We uphold all OSHA and CMS standards, as well as the unique and stringent requirements of the Joint Commission itself.

Partial Hospitalization for Addiction Recovery

Some people will want to segue into a partial care option for their drug or alcohol addiction. You may have gotten through the physical symptoms of withdrawal, but you still require healthcare providers to maintain your sobriety. This is where partial hospitalization comes into the picture.

Our partial hospitalization offering can allow you to spend all day in our facility receiving the same types of treatment you received in our inpatient rehab. The only difference is that you have more flexibility in the downtime. This allows you to practice your newfound coping skills before transitioning to a lower level of care.

Intensive Outpatient Program to Transition Back

Once you graduate from our inpatient rehab program, you might still require some degree of support to transition back to your responsibilities and everyday life. Purpose Healing Center is also proud to offer an intensive outpatient program that permits you to practice your new life skills in a real-world setting.

In our IOP program, you will spend several hours each week under the care of our skilled clinicians. You may attend one-on-one counseling, group therapy sessions, and other ancillary treatments — many of the same therapies you received during our traditional rehab program.

The difference is that you return home at the end of each day and get to sleep in your bed at night.

You will not receive around-the-clock care in intensive outpatient programs. However, you can still cope with mental health challenges and drug or alcohol abuse within the safety of our treatment center.
