The Phoenix Safe Outdoor Space & Getting Addiction Treatment at Purpose Healing Center
Here are some of the benefits of choosing Purpose Healing Center. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call.
Addiction Treatment 100% Covered by AHCCS
People experiencing homelessness in Phoenix are most likely eligible for Arizona Medicaid, also called AHCCCS. There’s more than one type of AHCCCS plan, so your insurance card might say something else, such as Arizona Complete Health.
We accept AHCCCS (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System) plans. This means that people living in the Phoenix SOS lot can get treatment at our center 100% free of cost. It is important to us that everyone is able to afford treatment, as we feel accessible treatment is a central part of more widespread homeless solutions.
If you do not have Medicaid but are eligible, you can get help applying for AHCCCS. With resources like case management available, staff members and volunteers at the Phoenix SOS lot can guide you through the application process.
Dedicated Inpatient Detox for Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal
The first step toward sobriety is to stop using substances. Quitting cold turkey is not recommended. Withdrawal syndromes can be severe in some cases. We provide dedicated inpatient detox services to help you manage acute withdrawal, if needed.
Sub-acute withdrawal services are also available for those with milder withdrawal symptoms, and our campus is less than fifteen minutes from most metro Phoenix locations.
Inpatient and Outpatient Addiction Treatment Programs
Purpose Healing Center provides a full continuum of care, including inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment programs. Both treatment options have their own benefits.
People in inpatient treatment live on-site at our center for the duration of the program. Clients often benefit from the support, accountability, and removal from daily life triggers that inpatient rehab provides. Most people stay in inpatient drug rehab programs for around 30-60 days.
Outpatient treatment can be an alternative to or a step down from inpatient rehab. Homeless residents participating in outpatient programs attend therapy at our center during the day but can return to campsites or shelters after treatment hours.
We have several outpatient treatment options, including a partial hospitalization program and an intensive outpatient program. These programs are flexible and give you time to fulfill obligations like work or school as needed.
Dual-Diagnosis Treatment
In Arizona, 38% of unsheltered persons had a mental illness as of 2024, and 42% had a substance use disorder. Often, these conditions go together. When that’s the case, it’s ideal that a person has support for both.
Purpose Healing Center provides dual-diagnosis treatment for all clients with co-occurring mental health conditions. This approach addresses mental health concerns and addiction at the same time to support whole-person healing and quality of life.
Therapies and Resources
Purpose uses the most evidence-based therapies for addiction and mental health. Clients get personalized treatment plans. It’s essential to us that we listen to you and make sure that the approaches used speak to you.
Examples include:
- Trauma-focused therapies.
- Motivational therapies (e.g., motivational interviewing, motivational enhancement therapy).
- Behavioral therapies (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy).
